Information on feeding frozen as compared to live prey. Except for the thrill of watching your
reptile hunt, kill, and eat a live rodent, in general, frozen's better for your pet. One reason being that rodents bite. If
your snake does not initially grab the rodent in the right spot, it can turn around and latch on, while it's being suffocated
by the snake. And, once your snake has fully killed the rodent, and begins to find the head for proper swallowing, the bite
is usually noticeable. The bigger the snake, the bigger the rodent, and the bigger the bite. Ok so now your
going to tell me well I will prekill the prey before hand right?? Well that is fine but now you really may as well
be buying frozen. You keep frozen rodents in the freezer, versus having to buy live rodents every week or two. It is more
convenient to feed F/T rodents because you can purchase more at a time, and not have to worry about having to take care of
them. By freezing them some of the parasites live prey might carry are killed off. Frozen rodents can last as long as 6 months
plus in the freezer when properly packaged. Thawing frozen rodents before feeding is easily done, either let
them sit out or place them in warm water. Be sure they are fully thawed before offering them to your reptiles. As
a long time producer/breeder of reptiles I highly recommend using frozen thawed rodents as your food source.
